Local Governments Program

The Local Governments Programme, which was opened to education in the 2010-2011 academic year, continues its education and training activities with approximately 60 students with a quota of 30 students each year. Our students have to do 30 working days internship before graduation. The language of education of the programme is Turkish.

Purpose of the Program

Local Governments programme carries out education and training activities in order to train intermediate and intermediate level managers for local government organisations such as Municipalities, Special Provincial Administrations and related units of various central government organisations. In order to meet the need for trained and qualified labour force of local government institutions, which provide the execution of many local and regional services throughout the country and whose importance is increasing day by day, the programme aims to train personnel who produce projects related to local governments and their services, who are researchers, who have the ability to apply modern management techniques. In addition, this programme aims to educate managerial candidates who are equipped with the basic principles, strategies and techniques of contemporary local government science, analytical thinking, problem solving and decision making skills.

The main objectives of the programme are to train low and middle level manager candidates who are educated in politics, economics, law, public administration, urbanisation and environmental problems, who will work at various levels of local governments and public sector, who have the theoretical knowledge required by the management understanding and who can transfer this knowledge to practice.

Career Oportunities

Graduates of the Local Governments Programme are entitled to receive the title of "Professional Staff". Graduates can work in municipalities, special provincial administrations, city councils, non-governmental organisations, organisations related to public opinion research and all similar public and private organisations. In addition, they can be employed in neighbourhood mukhtarships or village mukhtarships in big cities, and if they are elected as mukhtars, they will be more successful and effective in village or neighbourhood administrations. Graduates of the department are provided with the opportunity to be employed in public institutions with the public personnel exam (KPSS).
