The Cooperatives Program, which was opened in the 2003-2004 academic year, is an associate degree program that takes our students who graduated from trade vocational high schools without an exam, and those who graduated from other schools with an exam from the ÖSYM Exam EA score type. In order to graduate from the department, a total of 94 credits must be taken and the GPA (four semesters) must be at least 2.
Our students have to do 30 working days of internship in related institutions and organizations before graduation. The quota of the program is 30 and an average of 30 students are enrolled every year. The language of instruction of the program is Turkish.
Purpose of the Program
Today, cooperatives are recognized as an important social and economic movement in developed and developing countries, and their contribution to the economy, sustainable development and the fight against poverty, as well as creating jobs, mobilizing resources, generating investment, and protecting democracy, peace and the environment is emphasized. In other words, many countries use cooperatives as an effective and important tool in their economic and social development. As a third sector alongside the public and private sectors, cooperatives are of great importance for our country
One of the most important principles of cooperatives is education. In EU countries, of which we aim to become a full member, agricultural and non-agricultural cooperatives have an important share in the national economy. Economic development and progress can only be achieved through well-educated and knowledgeable human resources. Since it will be difficult to solve other problems unless the problem of education is solved, education is an issue that must be addressed first in development.
There are a total of 84,232 agricultural and non-agricultural unit cooperatives operating in Turkey, with around 8 million cooperative members. It is estimated that more than 50,000 permanent and temporary employees work in these cooperatives. However, almost all of these personnel have not received any training in cooperatives. In our country, there is a need for intermediate managers to be employed in the existing cooperatives and for intermediate professionals to assume responsibility for the cooperatives in the future.
For this purpose, our main goal is to train sought-after employees who are trained in the field of agricultural and non-agricultural cooperatives, who can organize relations with the public and private sectors in line with the objectives of cooperatives, who can fully apply cooperative principles in the cooperative they work for, who can carry out the activities of the cooperative within the framework of legislation, who can keep cooperative accounting, in short, who increase the institutional capacity of the cooperative they are in, and who have developed managerial skills.
