Automotive Technology Program

The programme has been started to teach as a motor program within Trakya University in the 1990-1991 academic year. Since Biga Vocational School is affiliated with Çanakkale Onsekiz Mart University, which was established in 1992 by Law No. 3837, it is affiliated with Çanakkale Onsekiz Mart University in our program.

Purpose of the Program:

It aims to train the qualified intermediate technical personnel needed by the automotive industry, both in production and after-sales service levels, in accordance with the quality and service philosophy that will meet the expectations of the age.

Automotive program:

It is a Higher Education Program that provides two-year education in order to ensure that the qualified intermediate manpower needed by the automotive industry in both production and after-sales service levels is trained in accordance with the quality and service philosophy that will meet the expectations of the age. Graduates who complete the program and receive the title of Automotive Technician have the qualifications to meet the need for qualified personnel between managers/engineers and workers in the production and after-sales service sector or to open and run a business on their own behalf. The education that an automotive technician receives will teach him how to establish relationships with others, ensure that he has a high level of manual dexterity, and enable him to know contemporary trends in advanced technology and information technologies.

Knowledge, Skills and Competencies that Students Will Possess:

Students who successfully complete the Automotive Technology Associate Degree Program will have the following knowledge, skills and competencies;

  • Knows the terminology related to the profession well
  • Having the knowledge and skills demanded by the industry.
  • Having sufficient knowledge about automobiles, he/she can manufacture, maintain and repair automobiles.
  • Can perform standard checks of automobiles
  • Able to work in a team and take responsibility
  • Can communicate with personnel at different levels in businesses and use written and verbal communication techniques.
  • Designs a system and draws technical drawings
  • Acquire the interpersonal skills necessary for accurate and effective communication in their interactions with other people in their personal, social and working lives.
  • Can use basic office programs and professional programs.
  • Have knowledge of basic public relations concepts, strategies and tactics and be able to design a public relations Project
  • Students can demonstrate appropriate behavior in professional life by knowing the rules of social behavior, courtesy, etiquette and protocol.
  • To have the communication skills necessary in professional life and to use these skills in the work environment.
  • To develop sensitivity to social problems and to produce social responsibility projects with team awareness.

Career and Degree Completion:

While one can work as a qualified intermediate employee needed by the automotive industry in public and private sector factories and after-sales services, one can also open a private business.

Those who start their careers in automotive production factories, auto sub-industry and after-sales services can also work as Section Chiefs, Service Chiefs or, when appropriate, Service Managers, depending on their experience and abilities.

Sections with Vertical Transfer:

If those who successfully complete the Associate Degree Program are successful in the Vertical Transfer Exam (DGS) conducted by ÖSYM, Industrial Technology Teaching, Ship Machinery Management Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Automotive Teaching, Aircraft Body – Engine, Aircraft Body-Engine Maintenance, Aeronautical Engineering, automotive engineering They can transfer vertically to undergraduate programs.
